Welcome to my Secret room.
It's nice to see you again.
I'm glad you came.
Oh, incidentally, Betty, the bookworm has a, a message for me.
She, Betty, you know, she lives in the, in the book.
Hello, Betty.
Oh, wait a minute.
There's a note here.
Signed Betty the Bookworm.
Dear Merlin, I couldn't make it today.
However, I'd like you to meet my very good friend Patty, the pixie patty, the pixie, you know, is, is an elf, a magic elf who lives in Camelot Forest.
I've never seen her.
I wonder how we do.
Oh, PS if you want to meet Patty the pixie, take some of the magic Stardust from the top of the book.
Oh, I thought it was dust.
It's stardust.
And sprinkle it on the mantle.
Do you think that'll work?
Stardust will turn into an elf.
Patty, Dixie.
Let's try it.
I'll put a little stardust right over here.
Patty.
Patty, the Pixie.
Hello.
How are you?
- Hello, Merlin.
- I'll help you down.
Pat, let me take your hand right here and I'll help you down.
Don't fall now, step onto the table.
That's it.
Then down to the chair.
That'd be very careful.
I don't want you to sprain your ankle.
There she is.
Now what I want.
Pat, where'd she go?
I, I don't understand where she went.
Do you?
Here I am.
Melin.
Where?
Where what?
Patty?
The pixie.
You surprised me.
That's real magic.
Why?
Why did you disappear?
- Oh, well, you can't touch me.
Melin.
- Why?
Why is that?
Aren't you real?
- Well, no, I'm in your - Imagination.
Just in my mind.
We, we think we see, or if, if we try hard not to.
You - Concentrate very hard.
Well, - I'm concentrating.
I don't want you to disappear again, do you?
No.
You're, you're, you're hiding something.
- I brought a friend with me.
That, that, that looks like me.
It is you.
Merlin.
Well, why did - You do that?
Why, why are you bringing a, a puppet of - Me?
Well, I thought the boys and girls might like to hear a story about what happened to you the other day.
- Not, not now.
Not now.
Just a minute, Patty, what kind of a story?
- Oh, I think it was about a fishing trip.
- Please don't tell that fish story.
- Oh, I'm gonna tell it.
Merlin.
- Should we let her?
All right.
They said you should tell it.
- Hi, Merlin.
Lets say hello to all the boys and girls and everybody at home.
Did you go fishing the other day?
- You did.
- And did you catch anything?
Did you catch a big fish?
How many and how big was it?
That big?
Merlin.
That's gigantic.
Merlin.
Are you sure you caught a fish that big?
How big was it that big Merlin?
That big?
That big Merlin.
That's only this big.
Are you sure you caught any fish at all?
Merlin.
- I think.
I think Merlin told a little fish story.
But you shouldn't We all tell a little white fib once in a while.
A little fish story.
- Well, little fish story.
- You embarrassed me a little.
- I'm sorry.
Merlin.
But I thought the children should know.
- Yes.
Well, I think we all do that once in a while and we should pre barricade or exaggerate.
I'm sure you don't have any bad habits like that - Do you?
Oh, no.
- It was so nice having you.
- Thank you.
It was nice to be here.
- Well, you come back again and see us real soon.
- I think so.
- Would you like her to come back?
All of our friends would like you to come back real soon.
Goodbye now, Patty.
- Thank you.
Goodbye.
- Nice to see you.
Isn't she a nice young lady?
I did tell a, I did tell a, a fish story and maybe I shouldn't exaggerate because a fish I caught was very small.
But we all do that once in a while.
Best to tell the truth, isn't it?
Not that Patty, the pixie will expose you as she did me.
But wait a minute, Excalibur is going to rise, I think before I can get over there.
Excalibur gets, gets very, very impatient at times.
And the magic theme word today is R-O-B-I-N Robin, HOOD.
Robin Hood.
Robin Hood, you know, lives in Sherwood Forest, not, not too far from Camelot Forest.
And we talked about him once before, and Alan Dale told a story about Robin Hood and his band.
Today we're going to talk about another member of Robin Hood's band.
This fellow right here.
Maybe you can guess who it is.
I don't know.
Maybe you can even guess who this fellow is.
He has a broken nose.
That's because he got in a few, a few fights and a real chin.
A lot of black hair, a lot of black hair.
And he has a beard.
Comes around from a mustache and very much down like my beard, like that.
Heavy, heavy brows, heavy brows and sideburns right along the side like that.
Very muscular fellow.
He's almost six foot, seven inches tall.
Is this fellow powerful arms, big chest.
And his name is, you guessed it.
His name is L-I-T-T-L-E. What is that spell?
Little JOHN.
Little John.
Little John.
You know, little John met Robinhood in a very unusual way.
He was, he was walking through the woods one day and they, they met at a stream and the most terrible fight took place.
Well, in as much as we do have our, our very good friend Alan Dale here, perhaps, perhaps I shouldn't tell you all the story because you know Alan Dale knows all the stories in rhyme and in verse.
And he sings a story about how Robin Hood met Little John Friar Tuck Will Scarlet and all these other wonderful people who lived in Sherwood Forest.
Alan Dale is with us today.
It's his second visit, and I'd like you to meet him now if you haven't met him before.
Here he is, Alan Dale.
Welcome to the Secret Room.
Alan.
Thank you, Merlin.
Thank you.
Now this isn't a, is it?
- Oh, no, this is not Aloo.
This is something new.
- You mean this will be used in the 20th century?
- Yes, in the near future.
- What is this called?
- This is called a guitar.
And as we know that many guitars of the future will have six strings, but this particular guitar has 12 strings.
Do you see that?
- Can I tell that by counting, what do you call these?
- These are called pegs.
- 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 on the top and six on the bottom.
That's right.
12 string.
That's right.
Now the loot had only how many strings again?
Eight.
Eight strings.
So this will be the instrument of the future, the guitar.
It has a very lovely tone.
I heard you playing before and I don't know, you remember so many stories.
I don't know if you can remember the story about, you told us a story about how Robinhood became an outlaw, and I understand you also know how Robinhood met Little John, this giant of a - Man.
Oh, yes, I know that story.
Well.
- How, how did that come about?
- Well, why don't you let me just tell you.
Can you sing it for us?
Oh yeah.
Good.
- Once Robinhood won a strolling deep in the vast creekwood, he clearly loved she for his, it was a world that he underst, he strolled beneath the Whispering Pines and through the butter cock bed.
His step was the light on his spirit's high, but he didn't see the trouble.
He came to a gentle meandering stream, was a delightful bubbling road and would now cross to the other side.
This task, he soon under a log, he used as a foot bridge lightly over the timber.
He go, the crossing would be quite risky.
It would take one nimble of all what?
A huge man stood on the other side.
He too wanted to cross the string.
Get out of my way, said, Robin, make me, if you are dare to challenge me.
Surely you must be dying of this for, I'll easily toss you into the, then I'll cross the, the angry men squarely with wooden fascinated fight.
Their struggle was fast and furious.
Truly was an astonishing, sorry.
They fought on the log for over an hour.
If a man would give an hinge, then Robin would hit the giant in the ribs.
It made him grunt.
And Flynn, but quick as a flashy, recovered and dealt Robin a blow on his head.
And they outlaw lost his senses and robbed in the stream as if dad, The water soon revive him.
And he heard the tall stranger shout, why?
Give me your hand and I will pull you out once more.
Drive the bank.
Robin laughed.
Truly, you can fight.
Would you like to join my band and live in the Greenwood?
Floyd, the stranger grabbed his hand and said, my name is John.
Little said, Robin, I'll call you Little John.
I need a man of such metal.
Then Little John joined Robin's band together through Sing the Sense Little John was always at Robin's side for the two are friends.
- Very good, very good.
I I just love to hear those tunes.
In fact, I I like, I like it so much.
I wonder, well, would you object if you just played it again, the first part?
- Oh, I'd love to.
I'd like to tell these tales over and over.
- Would you like to hear it?
Fine.
Let's hear it one more.
- Once Robinhood went to Ling Deep in the, for it was a world that he hung, he strolled beneath full whispering pines and through the water, his step was light as his sters high, but he didn't see the trauma.
Goodbye.
Now we'll see you soon.
- Bye - Patty.
