Made in Edinburgh by Thomas Reid in 1795.
APPRAISER: The fact that it's a Scottish clock is really neat.
Usually these clocks, these bracket clocks, are English, monumental, bigger than most bracket clocks.
Has a beautiful dial.
The dial's been restored, obviously.
Here in this country, if-if we restore a dial, we only paint the areas of loss.
There, they redo the entire dial... GUEST: Okay.
APPRAISER: ...and that's sort of acceptable to them.
GUEST: Right.
APPRAISER: Here in this country, it hurts it a little bit more, but regardless, signed on the front, signed, engraved on the back, 1795.
The case has been refinished, but it's beautiful.
So what did you pay for it?
GUEST: 25 years ago with shipping from Australia from the dealer was about $5,000 U.S.
APPRAISER: I would put a value on this clock today, a retail value, of probably $8,500 today.
GUEST: Okay.
It's going to stay in my family.
My parents were both from Scotland, so it's kind of near and dear to the heart.
